SAHASRADHARA - One Thousand Streams
Noutonki Kolkata is organizing Sahasradhara Natya Utsav, a festival celebrating the spirit of traditional indigenous performances of Bengal. The festival will start its journey from this year with the theme of Radha-Krishna. Besides the performances, Noutonki Kolkata is also organizing interactive sessions in collaboration with “Project Pala Gaan”, Jadavpur University. This part of the event will comprise of firstly, discussions by eminent theatre personalities, scholars, students and theatre-workers; and secondly, interaction and workshop with the traditional performers.
Out of the hundreds of traditional genres, this year we are honored to present Chor-Chunni from Jalpaiguri, Pala-bandi Jhumur commonly known as Nachni from Purulia and Leela-Kirtan from Kolkata.
